Shelter Pit Bull Mix Finally Gets Adopted After 726 Days — and Her Face Says Everything
Yahoo • May 24, 2026
Sarabel, a Pit Bull–type dog who had been in SPCA Florida’s care, finally found a forever home after living at the shelter for 726 days. The shelter shared the happy moment on TikTok from the account @spcaflorida as staff gathered to celebrate her adoption and send her off amid applause. During her long stay, Sarabel battled a serious back problem suspected to be intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). About a year before her adoption she lost the ability to use her hind legs and at one point required a canine wheelchair to get around. SPCA Florida’s animal care and medical teams worked closely with Sarabel through that crisis, and their efforts — together with Sarabel’s own determination — allowed her to regain use of her legs. By the time of the adoption she was bright, energetic, and clearly enjoying attention from the staff who’d cared for her. She was adopted just four days before what would have been her two-year anniversary in the shelter. Video from the day shows her settling into her new life, comfortably sitting in her new father’s lap and seeming already at home. SPCA Florida marked the occasion with warm wishes for Sarabel’s future. Readers who want to learn more about the shelter, support animals like Sarabel, or consider adopting or fostering can visit the SPCA Florida website for information on ways to help.
