Meet Banks

Meet Banks! A spirited seven-and-a-half-year-old Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix currently in Berkeley, CA, whose essence is a vibrant burst of determination wrapped in a striking merle coat. Weighing 38 pounds and standing proudly on three legs, this remarkable boy proves every single day that heart and horsepower matter more than numbers! Banks experienced an accident that led to the amputation of a rear leg, but it never slowed him down. In fact, he may be the fastest tripod you will ever meet! He rockets after a tennis ball with jaw dropping speed, pivots like a seasoned athlete, and returns for another throw with bright eyes that say, “Again?” Ball is life, and he would happily play fetch for hours, making his daily one to two hours of vigorous exercise both easy and joyful! Banks is brilliantly trained and thrives on structure. He confidently responds to sit, down, stay, heel, place, come, fetch, leave it, crate, and even “good night” when it is time to settle in. He will fetch the paper and politely offer a post bath shake on cue. Smart, food motivated, and eager to please, he shines with positive reinforcement and would flourish in agility, working, or farm environments. He is affectionate to his core and cuddles as close as physically possible, leaning into his people with complete devotion. He is generally friendly with other dogs and welcoming toward adults, though he would benefit from an experienced pet parent who can continue guiding him through resource guarding tendencies around food. Loud noises like vacuums can make him uneasy, so calm leadership helps him feel secure. Banks needs a new loving home with significant outdoor space, no young children, and dedicated caregivers who can match his energy and commitment to training. He also needs someone with experience with his breed or other working or agility dogs who understands the drive, intelligence, and daily structure that help him truly thrive. He is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and crate trained. If you live for early morning hikes, long games of fetch, and the kind of loyal companionship that sticks close on the couch after a full day of adventure, Banks may be ready to start his next chapter with you! Are you the dedicated companion who will toss the next ball and cheer him on as he flies across the field? Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about welcoming Banks into your family!
