Despite a rough start before joining RSR, Torta's spirit is pure gold and her love for people knows no bounds. Torta is deaf, communicating beautifully through eye contact, facial expressions, and hand gestures. She thrives on connection and will follow you everywhere, eager for your touch and affection. Her favorite pastime is curling up right next to her person on the couch for a nap or a TV marathon – expect some incredibly loud, but endearing, snores! This girl is a master cuddler and wants to sleep always touching her favorite human. Mealtime is Torta's absolute favorite (followed closely by walks!). Her enthusiastic appetite makes her easy to motivate. You’ll be surprised by how mobile and agile she is, despite being quite overweight – a testament to her joyful spirit! Torta loves her soft chew toys and bones, and enjoys a good game of tug-of-war with other dogs. She's a dream on the leash and truly enjoys her walks, even in the cold! Torta joined rescue very overweight. After being seen by the vet, it was determined that her thyroid and glucose levels are normal, and her weight gain is due to over-eating. She is currently around 64 lbs and needs to safely slim down to about 50 lbs before she can be spayed, which may take several months. Because of this, a foster-to-adopt home would be ideal for her.
