Meet Shuggie
Shuggie is an 8-year old Catahoula/Blue Heeler cross, who has lived with his current family since he was a puppy; now, however, his owners are relocating in another country in order to care for an elderly relative, and they prefer to find Shuggie a new home rather than move him around the world. Shuggie is a sweet dog and although he has interacted well with children in the past, he has not lived with children and he would do best in an adult home. He also is too interested in cats and should not be asked to live with them. He has lived with other dogs and interacted well with them. Shuggie has a bite history, which his owners say resulted from a utility worker's reaching a hand over the fence into Shuggie's yard, which took the dog by surprise. However, there is far more to Shuggie than that one incident, and his owners say this about him: Shuggie is a high-energy, intelligent, and deeply loyal companion who's looking for his perfect match. This food-motivated pup loves nothing more than an active adventure whether it's hiking trails, long walks, or chasing after his favorite tennis balls! While Shuggie is incredibly loving, he takes time to warm up to new people and requires a patient approach to building trust. He's made tremendous progress through extensive training and responds well to positive reinforcement and structured introductions.
